"The house seeing the fireworks"
The site is located in the residential area on the hill, Kakamigahara, where the Kiso river runs near, separates Gifu prefecture from Aichi pre. In the other side of Kakamigahara, there is Inuyama Castle and Zyoan, which are national treasures, the fireworks in this area is special things in summer. In the beginning of a plan, the client requested “I want to see the fireworks from my house”. It is impossible to see them even from the second floor, because the site is surrounded by other houses, maybe it can be on the roof. Therefore, a part of the roof is cut off so that inhabitants see the fireworks in line. Another feature of the exterior is the slanted wall in south elevation. The slant prevents the wall from the dirt, and the slit of the void blocks the heavy sunshine in summer as the canopy. The upper side of the void is connected by the wooden beam, as a result, the store space is available without using steel beam. The complex cross section by the gap between the slit of the roof and the slanted wall produces the bright space. Moreover, in the floor planning which is arranged side by side along the south window, by moving the door and store freely, the client can coordinate the space flexibly based on lifestyle.
